No Guarantee of Outcomes

Medical opinions do not guarantee any VA decision.

Determinations are made solely by the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Commitment to Transparency

Provider identities, credentials, NPI numbers, and methodology are openly available for verification.

Veteran Right to Choose Medical Providers

Veterans have the legal right to seek medical care from any licensed healthcare provider of their choosing, including private clinicians, and to submit private medical evidence in support of a VA disability claim.

Federal law and VA regulations recognize and protect this right. Veterans may obtain and pay for independent medical evaluations, Nexus opinions, and other clinical documentation, and the Department of Veterans Affairs is required to consider such evidence. See 38 C.F.R. § 3.159(c)(1) and 38 C.F.R. § 3.103(d)(1).

Court precedent further confirms that private medical opinions may not be discounted solely because they were obtained outside VA or paid for by the veteran. See Nieves-Rodriguez v. Peake, 22 Vet. App. 295 (2008).

Shield of Odin provides independent medical services only and does not influence, manage, or guarantee any VA claim outcome.
