My Story
Dr. Dawn Lanaville is a licensed clinical and forensic psychologist with deep expertise in trauma, behavioral health, and psychological disability evaluations. Since 2019, she has specialized in serving the veteran community—conducting psychological evaluations for between 10 to 20 veterans weekly and completing over 2,000 disability assessments to date. Her unmatched experience in this area brings both precision and compassion to each case reviewed at Shield of Odin.

Dr. Lanaville earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology with a concentration in Forensic Psychology from Fielding Graduate University and also holds a master’s degree in Clinical Psychology with a Criminal Justice minor from Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi. She is licensed to practice in both Virginia and North Carolina.

Through her private practice, Albemarle Psychology, Clinical & Forensic Services, Dr. Lanaville has conducted hundreds of forensic and court-ordered psychological evaluations, with a specialized focus on PTSD, military sexual trauma (MST), depression, and other psychiatric conditions stemming from military service. Her work is informed by extensive training in forensic interviewing, competency evaluations, malingering detection, and trauma-focused assessment.

Dr. Lanaville is a respected member of the American Psychology and Law Society, the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers (ATSA), and the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges. She continues to provide expert psychological insight and documentation to support veterans seeking service-connected disability benefits—ensuring their stories are accurately translated into compelling clinical evidence.
